Application of enhanced recovery after surgery in psychology improvement for patients suffered from neurosurgical disorders during perioperative period

Abstract:

Objective

To explore enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) for improving the psychological state and sleep quality of neurosurgery patients during perioperative period, and to improve patients’medical experience.

Methods

Seventy patients were collected from Department of Neurosurgery, the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from November 2017 to August 2018. They were divided into 2 groups by block randomization, control group and observation group. The normal pathway was operated in the control group, and the observation group was treated with the ERAS concept. Psychology and sleep was used to evaluate the effect of operations during perioperative period.

Results

There was no significant difference in Hamilton anxiety scale (HAMA), Hamilton depression scale (HAMD) and Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) between the observation group and the control group (P>0.05). One week after operation, the scores of HAMA, HAMD and PSQI in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistical significance (P<0.05).

Conclusion

The use of ERAS concept in perioperative period can effectively improve the effect of operations, such as psychology and the quality of sleep.
