Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the effect of long-term sertraline intervention on the prognosis of elderly patients with acute ischemic stroke.

Methods

Prospectively enrolled 120 elderly patients with acute ischemic stroke admitted to Neurology Department of People’s Hospital of Xinhui District from January 2018 to July 2020. According to the random number method, they were divided into observation group and control group, each with 60 cases. The control group received conventional treatment of stroke, the observation group was treated with sertraline hydrochloride tablets on the basis of conventional treatment. The two groups of patients were compared in different periods (baseline, onset 1, 3, 6 months), neurological function, depression, Differences in quality of life and ability to live.

Results

There was a statistically significant difference in the composition ratio of the National Institute of Health Stroke scale score, Hamilton depression scale score, GQOLI-74 score, Barthel index score between the two groups of patients at 1, 3, and 6 months (P<0.05). The functional recovery was better than that of the control group, the depression level was lower than that of the control group, the quality of life was higher than that of the control group, and the recovery of living ability was better than that of the control group.

Conclusion

Sertraline has a positive effect on long-term intervention in elderly patients with acute stroke, and has good safety. It can significantly promote the recovery of neurological function, improve the mental state of patients, improve the long-term quality of life of patients, and improve the prognosis.
